Direct Contact LEDs for PSP (Explanation)

January 30th, 2012 by admin

Hey guys, One of my friends messaged me here, and wanted an explanation to how / why the direct contact LEDs work. -For people that don’t know, I will start from the beginning: PSP Can be opened and modifyed (Modded) to be improved, or to make it better. People like to do modifications to their PSP to give them an advantage on the console, or for customized reasons. One modification that can be done to the PSP, is to rig the triggers. The triggers (Left and Right) on the PSP ar emade of Clear Plastic, with a white paint or coating to prevent seeing the inside of PSP. With a Drill, people make a hole past the white material, and drill into the plastic of the triggers and they place LEDs in them. LEDs are Light Emitting Diodes, or… Lights :D People use SMT or Surface Mount LEDs, which are REALLY SMALL. If you live in the USA, take a look at some spare change lying around. The SMT LED is the size of the “E” in “Liberty” on the US Dime. People solder, or melt a metal-like substance to combine wires or connections, to both sides of that ‘microscopic’ LED, and then connect voltage to it. One example of voltage could be a battery, with a Positive (+) and a (-). But in this case, the PSP has internal or built-in speakers. The way they work is, the PSP transmits electric through 2 wires ( A positive and negative ) to contacts or points on the actual speaker ( as seen in the video ) When using Direct Contact LEDs, you add 1 extra wire off of EACH of those points per LED. So you

It is common knowledge that you can easily check the operability of a fixed value resistor. And it is harder to check variable resistors. Now I will show you how to do this.

Robot active from Phidgets lath application L298N stepper chip

January 22nd, 2012 by admin

I bought the phidgets 0/16/16 board and then discovered I could not reverse polarity for stepper motor driving, although the board could handle the current: 2A drivers are already on the board. So I added the L298N H-bridge and a slew of too many parts. The current regulator is LM317T with 0.77 ohms across the input to limit the current draw to 1.6 Amps. You can find the wiring diagrams with the datasheets for those chips. The bipolar motor has four wires. The phidgets output block uses two direction outputs and two coil-enable output wires to control the two bipolar motor coils. I used 1500 ohm pull-up resistors on the L298 inputs. So the phidgets is actually disabling (grounding) those inputs by turning ON the phidgets output. I wish I bought a stepper add on board. It would have been easier. Here is one: www.robotshop.ca I wrote the phidgets program in C language running from a Linux operating system PC over USB to the phidgets board.
